Mary Ellen Kasey’s background in healthcare management and financial administration provides the practice with extensive practical managed care and health insurance experience. Ms. Kasey has a varied background in healthcare management, including managed care operations and contracting, claims administration, and risk management.

Currently, Ms. Kasey is responsible for projects in the practice areas of: managed care contract negotiations; network development; managed care financial policy and reimbursement analysis; operations and utilization management; strategic planning and marketing; educational seminars and skills training, as well as revenue cycle assessment including patient access redesign and payor and payment analysis.

Prior to joining Presscott Associates, Ms. Kasey was employed by Chubb/Executive Risk where she designed and delivered risk management services for health care providers in support of managed care and medical malpractice liability insurance products. Ms. Kasey’s previous experience includes three years as a managed care consultant, specializing in behavioral health practice development and management. Ms. Kasey also served as Director of Managed Care for the Northeast and Great Lakes Regions for First Health (formerly EBP HealthPlans), arranging and managing integrated delivery systems for large group employers; she was previously EBP’s Manager of Operations for their Third Party Administration office in Connecticut. Ms. Kasey has also been employed as a Network Consultant for CIGNA HealthPlan of Connecticut where she negotiated HMO contracts; a Director of Provider Relations for ValueCare, Inc., an employer-sponsored PPO; and a Manager of Health Care Programs Administration for The Hartford Insurance Group. Ms. Kasey has extensive experience in managed care including provider relations, network development, contracting, operations, utilization management, claims administration, reporting and analysis.

Ms. Kasey received her Master of Business Administration and Health Care Management from the University of Connecticut, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biology from Regis College. She is active in the American College of Healthcare Executives as a Certified Healthcare Executive, has served on the Regent’s Advisory Council for the State of Connecticut, and a member of Connecticut Women in Health Care Management. Ms. Kasey has completed the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management Certification Program.
